Role:
Develop engaging eLearning courses with interactive elements, simulations, and assessments as well as courses and content for in-person training. Collaborate with subject matter experts and project committees to create content aligned with course objectives across all areas of the credit union. Responsibilities include managing course development projects, editing multimedia content, and ensuring materials are clear and effective for adult learners. The role involves conducting needs assessments, tracking training effectiveness, and applying instructional design best practices.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work from home schedule, as set and approved by the position's manager in accordance with the credit union's Remote Work policy.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • 50% - Develop engaging online courses that include interactions, dialog simulation and assessments.
  • 20% - Partner with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop learning modules that meet course objectives.
  • 10% - Become familiar with products, services, and procedures and develop course materials that clearly present concepts to the learners.
  • 10% - Manage course projects from inception to completion, including creating project plans, meeting deadlines and re-prioritizing tasks as needed to complete the timely delivery of design projects.
  • 5% - Edit audio and video files. Create SCORM files to be uploaded to the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • 5% - Edit draft scripts provided by SMEs to ensure they are clear, concise and follow a logical flow.
Performance Measurements:
  1. Design and develop comprehensive, engaging, and interactive training programs for employees, including eLearning modules, instructor-led sessions, in-person training and blended learning solutions.
  2. Conduct needs assessments to identify skill gaps and create training solutions that address those needs effectively.
  3. Develop content related to key areas including compliance, financial products, member service, and employee onboarding.
  4. Ensure that instructional design is rooted in best practices, adult learning principles, and the unique needs of the credit union’s workforce.
  5. Collaborate with supervisors, management, project teams and subject matter experts to create and design learning and development programs to address specific training needs for all employee levels aligned with the credit union's goals and objectives.
  6. Test, monitor, report and follow-up on training progress to participants and supervisors.
  7. Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through post-training assessments, feedback, and performance metrics. Analyze training data and generate reports to track progress, measure training outcomes, and identify areas for improvement.
  8. Continuously update and improve existing training materials based on learner feedback, business needs, and changes in the regulatory environment.
  9. Make recommendations for the best use and application of technology as part of the design and development of training programs as well as the creation and delivery.
  10. Maintain and leverage industry knowledge and network(s) to provide "best practice" and benchmarking resources. Keep abreast of training industry trends for evaluation and/or incorporation into training strategies. Secure and maintain appropriate certification for external and/or internal training programs as appropriate.
  11. Support third-party vendors and subject matter experts (SME) with all necessary training materials.
  12. Provide ongoing support and resources to employees post-training to help reinforce learning and ensure continued development.
  13. Travel throughout the market area to visit branch locations and meet with employees across various departments to identify training opportunities and acquire knowledge and resources necessary to support effective course development.
  14. Provides additional assistance as needed to the VP Training & Development and Training Specialist in delivering training and completing the projects and responsibilities of the Training department.
  15. Supports organizational change initiatives, ensuring employees are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to adapt to evolving processes, technologies, and company goals. Facilitates a culture of continuous learning and growth, empowering employees to navigate change with confidence and contribute to the organization’s success.
  16. Maintain a current understanding of lending regulations and comply with policies and regulations including, but not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act, Truth in Lending, Fair Lending, RESPA, HMDA, FCRA and the SAFE Act.
  17. Participate in training and professional development activities to acquire and maintain standards established by the credit union. This could include attending conferences, seminars, and workshops as directed by management.
  18. Becomes familiar with and abides by policies, procedures and guidelines set forth by the credit union, e.g. Security; Bank Secrecy Act; Identity Theft and Red Flags; Cash Over/Short Guidelines; Check Cashing and Holds; Confidentiality; etc.
Knowledge and Skills:

Experience: 
A minimum of three years of progressive relevant experience working in a role applying instructional design skills for adult learners; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Education: (1) A bachelor's degree in Training & Development, Education or related field, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).

Interpersonal Skills: Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

Other Skills:  Extensive knowledge of instructional design software (e.g. Canva, Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline) is required. Advanced experience developing PowerPoint presentations including the use of animations is required. Advanced experience with Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and Adobe Acrobat is required. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal & written) with employees at all levels is
required. Excellent formatting and proofreading skills. Extensive knowledge of English grammar and spelling and the ability to communicate content using clear and concise language is required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, maintain constant attention to detail, and be skilled in working both collaboratively and independently to perform effectively under tight deadlines is required. Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills are required.

Experience managing projects of moderate scope is preferred. Experience with audio and video editing software is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
  • Involves sitting most of the time.
  • Walking and standing are required occasionally.
  • Repetitive finger movements to perform typing or otherwise working with paper files and documents.
  • Requires close visual acuity to prepare and analyze date and figures; view a computer terminal; read; and assess work quality.
Work Environment:
  • Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
  • State of Pennsylvania residency required.
  • Position is eligible for a hybrid work from home schedule, as set and approved by the positions manager in accordance with the credit union's Remote Work policy. In order to be approved to work from home, a cable modem or fiber internet connection is required which must have minimum service speed of 10M download / 2M upload, with less than 1% packet loss. Internet service and modem are the employee's expense.
