Role:  Provide expertise in the areas of data visualization, SQL querying, and SQL development. The Data Analyst will assist with evaluating and enhancing the development and maintenance of the credit unions data warehouse and data visualization tool. The Data Analyst will assist in the development of data visualizations while improving the semantic layer that gets exposed to business users. A strong analytical mind with the ability to translate raw data into easily understood executive briefs, the ideal candidate will possess a blend of strong communication skills mixed with technical expertise.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • E 50% Develop, implement, analyze, and support methodologies of the data program (including data warehousing, visualizations, and report development) to provide actionable reporting to our business users.
  • E 15% Work on cross-functional projects and/or serve on multi-functional teams and help drive design/development and successful implementation and monitoring of initiatives through measurement of results and ongoing evolution to meet Credit Union needs.
  • E 10% Proactively utilize multiple data sources to identify trends and conduct follow-up analyses, developing comprehensive insights that drive business decisions.
  • E 10% Validates platforms, structure, and architecture for data.
  • E 10% Lead training sessions for other departments on how to effectively utilize the Business Intelligence (BI) portal. Communicate analysis to appropriate personnel.
  • N 5% Performs other duties as assigned.

Performance Measurements:

  1. Assist with evaluating, enhancing, and maintaining the data lakehouse and data reporting platforms, ensuring efficient data flow across systems, with a strong focus on data freshness.
  2. Lead training sessions and drive engagement for each business area on how to access, view, and leverage data in the BI portal fostering adoption of self-service dashboards.
  3. Supports the implementation and adherence of the credit union's Data Governance program, ensuring procedures are current, accurate, and well-structured.
  4. Utilize and refine methodologies using analytical tools, historical data, modeling, and other appropriate data that inform and drive business decisions.
  5. Utilizing multiple data sources and data sets, layer, link, aggregate, analyze, synthesize, and interpret data to develop actionable insights.
  6. Perform data mining, statistical analysis, trend and variance analysis to proactively identify analytical opportunities and conduct follow-up analyses to deepen insights and drive business value.
  7. Package and convey findings in a relevant, timely and meaningful manner in a clear, concise, and cohesive story summarizing insights from analysis to assist in actionable decision making.
  8. Identify opportunities and methodologies that support the overall strategic direction and initiatives of the Credit Union to deepen member relationships. Supports data platform optimization efforts.
  9. Proactively drive the collection of new data and research, identifying gaps and opportunities for enhanced analysis.
  10. Work on cross-functional projects and/or serve on multi-functional teams and help drive design/development and successful implementation and monitoring of initiatives through measurement of results and ongoing evolution to meet Credit Union needs.
  11. Stay informed of new developments in the data/business intelligence space and credit union/banking industry.
  12. Collaborate with Business Intelligence team members and stakeholders to enhance reporting and visualization capabilities, supporting knowledge transfer and satisfaction.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience - A minimum of one year of similar or related experience. Similar or related experience includes collecting, integrating, processing, and analyzing data. Intermediate skills in SQL Querying/Development and Data Visualization Development (Power BI, Looker, Tableau, etc.) are required. Python experience preferred but not required. Expert level Microsoft Excel skills are required. Must also be proficient in Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience with Cloud platforms (Azure preferred). Experience with Cloud Data Platforms such as Databricks or Snowflake preferred.

Education - Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year college or university. Preference in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or other quantitative or analytical disciplines.

Interpersonal Skills - Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

Other Skills - Solid understanding of statistical methods and algorithms. Demonstrated ability to think creatively and solve problems, anticipate roadblocks, and recommend effective implementation plans designed to drive results and balance ROI. Ability to effectively communicate with non-technical users.

Physical Requirements
- Involves sitting most of the time.
- Walking and standing are required occasionally.
- Repetitive finger movements to perform typing or otherwise working with paper files and documents.
- Requires close visual acuity to prepare and analyze date and figures; view a computer terminal; read; and assess work quality.


Work Environment 
- Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
- State of Pennsylvania residency required.
- Position is eligible for a hybrid work from home schedule, as set and approved by the positions manager in accordance with the credit union's Remote Work policy. In order to be approved to work from home, a cable modem or fiber internet connection is required which must have minimum service speed of 10M download / 2M upload, with less than 1% packet loss. Internet service and modem are the employee's expense.
