Role:
Provide support in the areas of data visualization, data retrieval, and report development. Assist the Business Intelligence team with evaluating and enhancing the development of data visualizations and reporting while improving the semantic layer exposed to business users. A strong analytical mind that can visualize, interpret, and share the data with business units, while growing their ability to work with raw data and technical expertise. Generally, works under the supervision of senior staff in the Business Intelligence Department.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

 

  • E 45% Utilize multiple data sources and data sets to layer, link, aggregate, analyze, synthesize, interpret and visualize data to develop actionable insights, utilizing established methodologies or under guidance.
  • E 20% Work on cross-functional projects and/or serve on multi-functional teams and assist in the design, development and successful implementation and monitoring of initiatives through measurement of results and ongoing evolution to meet Credit Union needs.
  • E 15 % Assist with developing, implementing, and maintaining the data lakehouse and enterprise reporting platform, with a focus on data validations and quality checks.
  • E 10% Assist with training sessions for other departments on how to effectively utilize the Business Intelligence (BI) portal.
  • E 5% Enhance and develop skillsets related to data storage, retrieval, analysis, and visualization.
  • N 5% Performs other duties as assigned.

Performance Measurements:

  1. Assist with developing, implementing, and maintaining the data lakehouse and reporting platforms
  2. Assist with training sessions for other departments on how to effectively utilize the Business Intelligence (BI) portal.
  3. Attends and contributes to data governance committee meetings as requested.
  4. Follow and refine methodologies using analytical tools, historical data, and other appropriate information in a manner consistent with existing or projected modeling.
  5. Utilizing multiple data sources and data sets, layer, link, aggregate, analyze, synthesize, interpret and visualize data to develop insights.
  6. Perform data mining, statistical analysis, trend and variance analysis, and “what if” scenarios to assist with operational decisions and in achieving strategic goals.
  7. Package and convey findings in a relevant, timely and meaningful manner in a clear, concise, and cohesive story summarizing insights from analysis.
  8. Identify opportunities and methodologies that support the overall strategic direction and initiatives of the Credit Union to deepen member relationships.
  9. Drive the collection of new data and research as needed.
  10. Work on cross-functional projects and/or serve on multi-functional teams and help drive design/development and successful implementation and monitoring of initiatives through measurement of results and ongoing evolution to meet Credit Union needs.
  11. Keep abreast of new developments in the data/business intelligence space and credit union/banking industry.
  12. Collaborate with Data Analyst(s) on programming and reporting to assist in knowledge transfer and growth of reporting needs. Supports cloud-based analytics initiatives.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience - A minimum of six months similar experience is required. Similar experience includes collecting, integrating, processing, analyzing and creating reporting from data. Relevant course completion may be accepted in lieu of experience. Relevant course completion may include certificate program completions from professional courses or resources such as Google, Coursera, LinkedIn Learning, etc. focused on Business Intelligence and/or Data Visualization Development.

Education - (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree). Preference for education and certification completion in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Business Marketing, or other quantitative or analytical disciplines.

Interpersonal Skills - Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

Other Skills

- Intermediate skills in SQL Querying/Development and Data Visualization Development (Power BI, Looker, Tableau, etc.) are required.
- Python experience preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Azure preferred) and willingness to learn Databricks/Snowflake.
- Expert level Microsoft Excel skills are required.
- Must also be proficient in Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Must have a solid understanding of statistical methods and algorithms.
- A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to think creatively and solve problems, anticipate roadblocks, and recommend effective implementation plans designed to drive results and balance ROI.
- The ability to effectively communicate with non-technical users is mandatory.


Physical Requirements

- Involves sitting most of the time.
- Walking and standing are required occasionally.
- Repetitive finger movements to perform typing or otherwise working with paper files and documents.
- Requires close visual acuity to prepare and analyze date and figures; view a computer terminal; read; and assess work quality.

Work Environment

- Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
- State of Pennsylvania residency required.
- Position is eligible for a hybrid work from home schedule, as set and approved by the positions manager in accordance with the credit union's Remote Work policy. In order to be approved to work from home, a cable modem or fiber internet connection is required which must have minimum service speed of 10M download / 2M upload, with less than 1% packet loss. Internet service and modem are the employee's expense.
